ABOUT 


Petra Leslie is an award-winning cinematographer known for her nuanced visual storytelling. Based in Naarm/Melbourne, she holds a Master of Cinematography (AFTRS). Her work spans narrative, documentary, video art, and commercial projects.

She was Director of Photography on GORGO, winner of Best Short Film at the 2025 AACTA Awards, and Agoge, which premiered at Palm Springs. Her debut film Sunset Country, written, directed, and shot by Petra, screened at MIFF’s Accelerator Lab. She was Second Unit DoP on The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, starring Sigourney Weaver. Other credits include Undressed (Made Up Stories) and Heartbreak High Season 2.

Her documentary and experimental work has screened at MIFF, SFF, Short Shorts (Japan), Doc Edge, and CILECT CAPA. She has received Best Cinematography awards for her ability to bring emotional depth to non-fiction storytelling. Credits include It Starts with Us (Screen Australia & Big hART), and screen work with Bangarra Dance Theatre and Marrugeku.

Petra has also collaborated with artists on installation works exhibited at ACCA, Gasworks, and Carriageworks, blending cinematic form with spatial and sensory experience.

Her commercial projects include campaigns produced with Exit, Division, and Hogarth, where she brings a distinctive visual style to branded storytelling.
