ABOUT 


Petra Leslie is an award-winning cinematographer known for her nuanced visual storytelling. Based in Naarm/Melbourne with a Master of Cinematography from the AFTRS, her work spans narrative, documentary, video art, and commercials.

In narrative filmmaking, most recently Petra was Director of Photography (DoP) on GORGO, winner of Best Short Film at the 2025 AACTA Awards. She also wrote, directed, and shot her first film, Sunset Country, which premiered at MIFF’s Accelerator Lab. She served as Second Unit DoP on Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, starring Sigourney Weaver, which won Best Cinematography at the AACTA Awards. She also worked as an operator and satellite unit DoP for Undressed, a Made Up Stories production, as well as a camera operator on Heartbreak High 2.

Her documentary and independent works have premiered at MIFF, SFF, Short Shorts (Japan), CILECT CAPA, and Doc Edge among others. She has shot video installation works exhibited at Gasworks and Carriageworks, with upcoming projects at ACCA, Composite Moving Image and Verge Gallery.

Petra's commercial work has involved collaborations with leading agencies, including Exit, Hogarth, and Division, where she is able to bring her distinct visual style to branded content and advertising.
